Edel Browne is a med-tech professional, with experience in various roles, including currently as R&D PM at Galway based Start-up, Tympany Medical. Edel has also held various roles in the Life Sciences team at Accenture and other start-ups and entrepreneurial accelerator programs, primarily focusing on strategic management of high level projects and processes. Edel has been recognised for her work in these areas, having previously received the Special Recognition Award at the Irish Early Career Awards, USI Student Entrepreneur of the Year Award, and the youngest honouree across Europe listed on the Forbes 30 under 30 list for Science and Healthcare in 2019.
Edel has previously served on Údarás na hOllscoile - the University’s Governing Authority, and is the current Chair of the Alumni Awards Committee at the University of Galway. She is committed to the advancement of participation in STEM and higher education, and is also a member of the Senate of the National University of Ireland, the overarching governance body of all NUI Universities and Constituent Colleges. Edel is a past participant of the Washington Ireland Program and the US Embassy Emerging Leaders Council, and looks forward to leveraging these experiences through her role on the External Advisory Board.
Edel is an MSc and BSc(Hons) graduate of the University of Galway, having also undertaken additional studies at the University of Cambridge, Imperial College London and the Honourable Society of King’s Inns, across the disciplines of science, business and law.
