United Nation Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Showcase

J.E. Cairnes School of Business and Economics has launched a Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) integration mapping project. The SDGs are a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future.

Here you can find what faculty in the School are doing in research, teaching and engagement that aligns with the SDGs at target level. Search by SDG, by target, by department, by keyword – or for an academic whose name you already know.

The project has been underway since April 2023, using desk research, interviews and the Accelerating Action SDG analysis tool to explore, discuss and share knowledge of sustainability-oriented work to SDG target level to create faculty profiles. These profiles describe how each academic’s research supports the SDGs, their personal approach to the integration of sustainability in teaching, and how they interact with groups and organisations outside the boundaries of the University. Research, teaching and engagement in higher education contributes largely indirectly to the UN sustainability goals, but in some cases – which we have highlighted – make direct contributions to their achievement.
