Biography

I attended the University of Galway, and achieved a BSc Hons in Marine Science and was awarded a PhD degree from the Departments of Zoology & Microbiology respectively.

I am a lecturer on the Microbiology pathway in the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences at the University of Galway.

My research interests are in the areas of Marine Microbiology and diagnostic assay design for clinically relevant pathogens.

I am also extremely interested in the application of modern teaching and learning methods in order to enhance my teaching. I have created a freely available online YouTube channel hosting over 40 instructional videos depicting key laboratory techniques used in Microbiology (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fj8bNMAwrGg)
