Information for First Years
The Student Connect Mentoring Programme provides a friendly introduction to NUI Galway for first year students. It aims to be a great foundation for you to experience college life from the day you arrive right through to the end of your first year exams. Your mentor is an existing students, who has been trained, and will meet you on 29th August at a time that has been emailed to you.
Constant contact with your assigned mentor will occur through weekly WhatsApp message to inform you of future events. They will always be on hand to ensure you are having the best student experience you can.
Benefits of having a mentor
- First hand knowledge of university life from a current student who knows exactly the concerns of incoming First Years
- An experienced confidante with whom you can rely on and go to without any hesitation
- Mentoring is aimed to foster and encourage friendship within your mentor group and aid in the stress-free integration into university life
