Raise your profile
Build your brand on campus
There are a number of ways that a representative of your company can become more visible to students. For example, come on campus to either promote an internship and/or graduate programme, or contribute to the skills development of our students.
Employer in Residence
Companies who are actively recruiting are welcome to participate in our Employer in Residence Programme. Keen to develop the relations we have built with our partners in industry we want to accommodate you in promoting your brand as effectively as possible to our students.
These one-to-one engagements cover all aspects of employability; including cv and cover letter reviews, interview expectations and tips, information on the company and how to break into specific industries.
The programme offers employers the opportunity to develop connections with talented NUI Galway students and raise your organisation’s profile on campus.
Testimonials from participating companies:
“At Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard our mission is to mobilise a new generation to use their ideas to drive transformational change in the workplace and the world. As an employer we understand that our role, in terms of skills development, starts well before students even consider applying to our graduate programme. It’s through initiatives such as the Employer in Residence Programme with NUIG that opportunities open for us as employers to have career conversations with students early in their studies. This supports students in making informed decisions about their career. The Programme offered a great opportunity to work with students face-to-face to not just review their CV but to have a real conversation with them around what they want from an employer and from a career.” – Sinéad D’Arcy, Jameson International Graduate Programme Manager at Irish Distillers Pernod Ricard
“Meeting the students in a more personal setting was a great opportunity for Bristol Myers Squibb as well as the students. We were able to freely engage and speak through all of the wonderful upcoming career opportunities BMS will be offering as well as go over interviewing and resume skill building. These tips will hopefully help them in their applications for BMS roles, and in their understanding of the BMS commitment to helping our current and possibly future employees.” – Camilla Richey, Human Resources – Global Manufacturing & Supply, Bristol-Myers Squibb
Information Stand
If you would like to man an information stand, promoting what your firm does and who they are looking to recruit, in an appropriate location on campus, we are happy to accommodate you.
Employability Workshop
If you would like to further build your brand on campus you are welcome to deliver an employability workshop to students on cv writing, interview skills, what to expect at assessment centres etc…

Company presentations
Grow your brand on campus by presenting to students in person. A typical presentation will inform students of the current opportunities available, application procedures and progression within the company. A popular format is to include a recent NUIG graduate to discuss their responsibilities and progression.
The Career Development Centre will work with you in targeting specific cohorts of students and arrange suitable venues.
Host a career focused workshop or participate in a seminar
Looking for new, innovative ways of working with our students?
Careers run many seminars, workshops during the year, as well as being involved in Careers Education modules on certain programmes. For example,
- general and targeted workshops are available e.g., CV workshop during Engineers week
- industry insights as part of our involvement with Skills for Worklife programme for BComm
- our seminars give insights into working in a particular sector (e.g., Careers in Media) and can take the form of brief presentations about a number of careers and/or a discussion panel with Q&A. We are particularly interested in having alumni of NUI Galway participate in these seminars. Tell your own career story - Typical working day - The future - your thoughts - Advice on tips for entry - Q & A - Network with students
Be a CV reviewer and/or mock interviewer
As part of some of our Careers Education modules and placement preparation, we may hold 1-1 CV reviews and/or individual mock interviews with students and give constructive feedback.
We are always interested in having HR professionals from a related industry take part as it gives the student an invaluable learning experience.
Sponsorship
There are several avenues for company sponsorship, which could include:
- prizes or awards for best final year project, best performance in final exams or on the basis of other college based achievements. These are arranged with the specific academic discipline.
- prize for careers event attendance (related to your industry).

This is an excellent opportunity to partner closely with the Career Development Centre or an academic discipline or College.
Contact employers@nuigalway.ie now to express your interest in participation in any of the above.
