Biography

I am a college lecturer in Italian and Children's Studies at NUI Galway. I introduced the BA Connect with Children's Studies to the University in 2008 and I was a co-program designer of the BA Children's Studies which came on stream in 2015. I was Director of the BA Connect between 2008-2015.  I believe that creativity and critical thinking should be at the heart of education at all levels and it is my mission to foster these as best I can in my teaching, research and community involvement. I am a firm supporter of the integration of the Arts in education and my research focuses on Italian children's literature and culture, comparative children's literature and film, aesthetic education and innovative pedagogical approaches. I am Chairperson of the Board of Management of Galway Steiner National School, Knocknacarra.
