Biography

Brídín is an experienced qualitative researcher, having worked on six projects over the past ten years. She was educated at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels in NUI Galway before spending six years gaining experience in other institutions including the University of Birmingham, the National Economic and Social Council, University College Dublin, and the Department of Health. Brídín therefore has experience not only in the academic but also in the policy arena. While Brídín's research focus has shifted in recent years from issues of food sustainability to healthy ageing, the common thread underpinning these enquiries has been a concern for marginalised populations.

Teaching Interests

My teaching interests are broad, reflecting the range of research I've completed to date. I am interested in teaching topics related to sustainability and sustainable consumption, particularly as they relate to food. I'm also interested in issues of identity, culture and belonging. I have experience in topics related to marginalisation and exclusion, particularly as it relates to health. As such, I also am interested in teaching from a structural determinants perspective. I have extensive experience in qualitative research methods and have experience in teaching this at an undergraduate level.
