Coaching Scaling Businesses 2023

In April 2023, Professor Jonathan Levie and Professor Esther Tippmann delivered a workshop on “Coaching scaling businesses” to more than 40 scale-up advisors of the Enterprise Europe Network, funded by the European Commission. The training was organised by the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) and took place in Brussels. More than 45 scale-up advisors from across Europe attended and will bring back the lessons learned to their client companies. For an unsolicited participant comment on our workshop, see here.

Growth Pathways for Scaling Companies 2023

In March 2023, Professor Jonathan Levie was invited to speak at the inaugural webinar focused on supporting businesses that seek to scale rapidly. The webinar series is offered by Enterprise Ireland. Jonathan shared insights on the building blocks that need to be in place to successfully scale a business. It provides practical advice that founders and senior management need to consider to drive scaling. A recording can be found here.

  • Esther Tippmann (University of Galway), Becky Reuber (University of Toronto) and Sinead Monaghan (Trinity College Dublin) develop insights on global scaling, a very prevalent phenomena in the contemporary business world. In an editorial for the Journal of International Business Studies, they open the dialogue by explaining the relevance of global scaling and call on business scholars for further research in this area. In an empirical paper, published in the Global Strategy Journal, they explain how globally scaling businesses can navigate the paradox of global scaling.

Removing the challenges facing start-up founders in Ireland

  • Scale Ireland have just released headline results of their ‘State of Start-ups’ Survey in their first Regional Start-up Summit. The event was held in Cork on 28th January 2022 and was addressed by leaders from the start-up and scale-up communities, government, and academia. The survey highlights critical issues reported by start-up founders including finance, employment, taxation, state assistance, gender and climate.
