2016 Lecturer in the ‘Marine Environment’ Earth Science 1Y: Evolution of the Earth, University of Glasgow. 2015-2016 Lukasz Stachnik (Research Assistant) investigates on the presence of a sulfur isotope signal in Clathromorphum compactum that could determine the age of melt water influencing the fjord habitats in southwest Greenland.

Research Interests

My research focus is the ecology and physiology of cold water seaweeds and their response to changes within their environment. I use novel and interdisciplinary techniques to answer questions about the 1) how seaweeds structure and influence biodiversity of marine habitats, 2) how seaweeds interact with microorganisms in these habitats (the microbiome), 3) the physiological characteristics that allow seaweeds to survive in high-latitude and cold water environments, and 4) what this means for future marine communities in a high CO2 climate. These research lines can be applied to marine systems worldwide.
