Biography

Victoria completed both her undergraduate and postgraduate studies at NUI Galway. Following completion of the MSc Occupational Health and Safety & Ergonomics in 1998 she worked in industry as an Occupational Health & Safety professional for over five years. During this time she worked in the pharmachem, manufacturing and local authority sectors. In 2003 Victoria received her appointment as a lecturer at NUI Galway. She lectures in Occupational Health on the MSc/HDip Occupational Health & Safety and the BSc Health & Safety Systems.

She was awarded her PhD from NUI Galway in 2013 for her study entitled ' An examination of working hours, work-life conflict and psychological well-being in Irish academics. She is currently active in research within the Health Promotion Research Centre and in multi-disciplinary occupational health and safety research projects.











Research Interests

Victoria completed her PhD study in 2013 entitled "An examination of working hours, work-life conflict and psychological well-being in Irish academics". Her research interests focus on occupational health psychology, in particular the interface between work and home domains, post-work recovery and workaholism.

In additional, she has conducted research with colleagues in the Health Promotion Research Centre on workplace health promotion.

She is also interested in occupational health and safety research and has worked with OHS colleagues in multidisciplinary health and safety research projects.

Teaching Interests:

Dr. Hogan is the Academic Director of the BSc. Environmental Health and Safety http://www.nuigalway.ie/courses/undergraduate-courses/health-and-safety-systems.html. She teaches HP1200 Occupational Health and Wellbeing and HP440 Health and the Work Environment on the BSc programme. She also teaches HP1100 Occupational Health and Wellbeing on the postgraduate OEHS programmes.
