Biography

Rachel Quinlan graduated from University College Galway with a B.Sc. (1993) and M.Sc. (1994) in Mathematical Sciences. She completed a Ph.D. in Mathematics at the University of Alberta in 2000. From 2000 until 2005 she worked as a postdoctoral researcher and as a lecturer in University College Dublin. She joined the academic staff of NUI Galway in September 2005.
Dr Quinlan's research interests are mostly in the area of algebra, including group theory and the representation theory of finite groups. Recently her main focus of attention has been on combinatorial aspects of linear algebra. She also maintains research activities in the area of Mathematics Education at university level.
