Biography

Ms Linda Ni Chianain received her Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing from the GMIT – Castlebar in 2004. While working as a registered psychiatric nurse in St John of God, Stillorgan (2004-2005) and later working in a community residential unit and Day Centre in Clifden (2005-2007) she completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Studies in 2005.  

Returning to University full-time she received her DipHE in adult nursing at the University of the West of Scotland in 2009. She took a position as a registered general nurse in a Plastics High Dependence Unit at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary (2009-2015). She successfully completed an Early Clinical Career Fellowships funded by the Scottish Government Health Directorates. The fellowships included a funded part-time masters, which she completed at the University of Glasgow in 2012, she received mentorship/clinical coaching while attending action learning sets and master classes (2009-2012).  

She took a part-time position as a Teaching Assistant in Clinical Skills at the University of Glasgow (2013-2015) while also continuing to work at the Royal Infirmary. Undertaking a Postgraduate in Academic Practice at the University of Glasgow and became a registered nurse teacher.  

Now a University Teacher – teaching at undergraduate and post-graduate level at NUIG since January 2016. Her interests include clinical skills, simulation, inter-professional education and learning. She has been successful in her first application for Millennium Funding 2016 to support her research into inter-professional simulation.
