I am a graduate of UCG/NUIG (BA in German and Spanish 1988, MA in German Literature 1993, Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education: Academic Practice 2007).Before that I studied at the Pädagogische Fachhochschule (Munich) where I obtained the Higher Diploma in Special Needs Education and a Diploma in Montessori Teaching. Before joining the German Department, NUI Galway, I worked as a German teacher in Colaiste Einde (Galway) and the Galway, Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) as well as a number of German multinationals like Siemens, BMW and Deutsche Bank in the role of business administrator and translator. Since 1996 I am the programme director, lecturer and Erasmus co-ordinator of the German component of the B.Comm. International (German) degree course. In 2004 I was appointed NUI Galway's extern examiner (German) for the Shannon College of Hotel Management (SCHM). In 2005 I was awarded the NUIG President’s Award for Teaching Excellence, and in 2015 NUIG's Students' Choice Award for Teaching Excellence. I am currently working with final year Commerce students on an Erasmus wiki and glossary for outgoing second year students. My research interests are mainly in the areas of  ’Collaboration, ICT and blended learning in the MFL classroom’.

Teaching Interests

I have sole responsibility for every aspect of the German component of the B.Comm. (International) Degree programme including course design & delivery, assessment and examination, administration, pastoral care as well as organisation, stewardship and academic supervision of the year abroad in 6 German and Austrian universities.

I am a lecturer who has 14 hours of class contact per week for the entire academic year. I teach all levels from 1st year to final year undergraduate Commerce/German students.
