Biography

Paul Flynn, PhD, is a researcher and lecturer in education at the School of Education, NUI Galway. Paul is also a senior researcher with the Institute for Lifecourse and Society (ILAS) at NUI Galway. Ongoing work includes research  in the field of formal and non-formal, placed based, community education with young people between 15-25. In 2020, Paul was appointed to represent Ireland on the EU COST ACTION: CA18213 - Modelling the Risks Underlying Rural NEETs Social Exclusion. 

Paul is involved in a number of ongoing research projects relating to formal, informal and non-formal settings. Dr. Flynn has developed a number of successful funding proposals, as a Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator, and succeeded in helping to attract over ¿4.5m of competitive funding from local, regional, national, European and global funding agencies.  As part of ongoing work, Paul, has developed a wide ranging, multi-disciplinary and global network of collaborators and currently serves on a number of committees and steering groups that inform the development of programmes and policy at a national and international level.

Research Interests

Paul has developed a number of successful funding proposals, as a Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator, and succeeded in helping to attract over ¿4.5m of competitive funding from local, regional, national, European and global funding agencies.  As part of ongoing work, Paul, has developed a wide ranging, multi-disciplinary and global network of collaborators and currently serves on a number of committees and steering groups that inform the development of programmes and policy at a national and international levelResearch Interests Include:
