Social Psychological Science and Cognitive Science (Structured PhD)

College of Arts, Social Sciences, & Celtic Studies,
Psychology

Course overview

The PhD in Social Psychological Science and cognitive science is a four year full-time structured PhD programme offered together with the Department of Psychology at the University of Limerick (UL).  This structured PhD will combine expertise in social psychology, cognitive psychology, and cognitive neuroscience.

Students will receive a high quality education on the graduate level on all areas of their study: research methods, professional and transferable skills, and topic content: social psychology, cognitve psychology, and neuroscience.  Specifically, the programme will educate PhD students in seeking funding, establishing national and international networks, mentoring skills, conducting ethical and innovative research that addresses basic research questions and real world problems.  Graduates should thus be qualified for potential academic careers, careers in research outside of academia, and careers at workplaces where topic knowledge and the learned transferable skills are relevant.
