Biography:

Aoife Callan is a HRB Health Economics Postgraduate Research Fellow on the HRB ICE UTI-C project at the Department of General Practice and the Department of Economics. Her current research project involves assessing the economic cost of antimicrobial resistance in Ireland. She is also involved in the design, implementation and economic evaluation of a complex intervention into prescribing behaviour in Ireland. Prior to this, Aoife was a researcher at the Irish Centre for Social Gerontology at the National University of Ireland, Galway. She was involved in a number of projects at ICSG and in the Department of Economics including assessing indirect costs associated with obesity and overweight on the island of Ireland as part of Safefood funded research. She was also involved in researching older women workers and their access to pensions in a North-South colloboration with Queens University Belfast. Aoife completed her Ph.D. at NUI Galway examining public preferences for different types of community care programmes, including technology-based programmes, that support older people to continue living at home.
