Biography

Amaya Vega is a Research Fellow in the Socio-Economic Marine Research Unit (SEMRU). She holds a Ph.D. from University College Dublin, Ireland (Economics, 2007). Her research interests include marine and maritime economics, the effects of transport on regional development, the assessment of the sustainability of transport systems and the analysis of transport demand. She has experience in the development of socio-economic indicators for sustainability and accessibility in a transportation context. Since she joined SEMRU in July 2012, she has been involved in the assessment of methodologies for the valuation of Ireland's marine economy and its direct and indirect/induced effects on the national economy.
