Short Courses (non-accredited)
Course Overview
The Centre for Adult Learning and Professional Development offers a series of short, non-accredited courses in a number of different subject areas. Designed for students with an interest in the subjects on offer, these courses may provide you with an opportunity to meet interesting people to discuss your ideas with, to find out more about your subject areas and also to experience the world of lifelong learning.
We offer courses in the following areas; Archaeology, Writing, Film Studies, History, Art History, Languages, Health & Well Being, Literature & Poetry, Philosophy, Science, News Media, Ancient Greece and Rome, Genealogy.
The short courses start the week beginning 2nd October and are run over 8 weeks - one evening* per week (7 to 9pm). *With the exception of the Alexander Technique which takes place on a Saturday.

Derry O'Connor | Russian for Beginners
I recently undertook the Russian for Beginners short course. It gave me a basic knowledge of spoken Russian for everyday use which was just what I required. The lecturer introduced the Cyrillic alphabet, Russian vocabulary and grammar through a mix of in-class “role play”, reading and general conversation. We got wonderful course notes and some “homework” to be done for each week! The lecturer was excellent, full of enthusiasm, never late nor stinting in her time and helpful to each student. I really enjoyed the learning experience.
