What is CPD?
CPD is a process by which you manage your own professional knowledge and skills on an ongoing basis. CPD gives you the opportunity to record, review and reflect on your learning. It is essential for continued employment and advancement.
How does CPD work?
You can take a selection of modules on a separate, standalone basis. Our modules are industry focused and provide an ideal opportunity to upskill in your profession and add to your CPD portfolio.

| 18 Nov 2017 | SP3114: Social Inclusion, Civic Engagement & the Modern State This module explores the meaning of ‘social inclusion’ and 'civic engagement’ in conceptual terms, in order to clarify and distinguish both concepts theoretically, before debating the wider implications of the application of these concepts within current research, policies and practices in modern society. Questions will be raised as to how ‘citizenship’ and ‘civic engagement’ can be usefully applied to our thinking about ‘social inclusion’ in society, in addition to exploring the developing connection between social inclusion policies and civic engagement at a national and European level. |

| 3 Mar 2018 | SP139: Community Health This module seeks to provide a broad understanding of health in Irish society, particularly from a community perspective. It begins by looking at health issues within the context of international definitions and a national policy framework. It then examines the role of the individual, the community and society in determining health. It also examines the specifics of the Irish health system in terms of current policy, structures, financing and legislation. |

| 3 Mar 2018 | SP1107: Volunteering: Theory, Policy & Practice Using an inter-disciplinary approach this module will examine volunteering policy, theories and practices. Approaching volunteering from a real-world problem based perspective, this module critically examines the many assumptions underlying the concepts of volunteering and will engage participants in personal and critical reflection on our practices as citizens. |
